Gordale Scar is a popular site near the famous limestone chasm. Popular with both siteseers and climbers, the site is is located in dramatic landscape with great mountain biking and hiking.

The site is basic and a little exposed but has toilet blocks with hot water. Malham is two miles away with a decent pub the Buck Inn.

Holme Valley

Holme Valley is nestled on the edge of the Peak District, with a claim to fame of being a location for Last of the Summer Wine. Based on the site of a former wollen mill, Holme Valley is a pretty site with the River Holme running alongside it’s edge.

The site is on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park and the traditional Yorkshire town of Holmfirth is nearby.

The site has 75 pitches on a slight slope

Billycan Camping

Billycan Camping offers the opportunity to sleep in a fully fitted canvas bell tent situated in 650 acres of farmland.

Based near the South Downs, just outside the historic town of Arundel, Billycan camping aims to create a communal experience with group campfires and a back to (fairly luxurious) basics feel.

For 2010 the site is introducing Ranch Riders offering the opportunity to go trekking on horseback and art classes to add a little creativity to your stay.

Robbie Love’s/Trenant Steading

Known locally as Robbie Love’s Campsite, Trenant Steading is based on the North Cornall Heritage Coast and for the less heritage inclined, a cult site for young surfers looking to catch the waves at Polzeath.

Robbie Love’s is the anti-Camping Club, facilities are a little rustic but who cares when you’ve drank your weight in alcopops?

Not a site to be bound by rules, Robbie Love’s is a true party site. Robbie doesn’t mind what you get up to, his is a cider.

North Morte Farm

North Morte Farm is only 500 yards from Rockham Beach and set in some of the south west’s most spectacular countryside.

Woolacombe is nearby offering a sandy beach and surfing. The south-west coast path can be directly accessed from the site and is only 5 minutes from the village of Mortehoe.

The site has a good range of facilities but doesn’t take advance bookings.

Wold Farm Campsite

Wold Farm is perched on the top of Flamborough with views across the Danes Dyke, lighthouse and coastline.

Twitchers will delight in the Bempton Cliffs bird sanctuary with puffin burrows only a few meters away. The site also boasts a private path to reach the cliff top. Whilst basic the location is beautiful.

Winshields Farm

Winshields is a working farm, surrounded by the neolithic beauty of Hadrian’s wall. Set in the Northumberland countryside, Winshields is the perfect base to explore The Lake District, Gretna Green and the Scottish Borders.

Hollings Hill farm

Fieldhead Campsite

Fieldhead Campsite is based in the picturesque village of Edale. The campsite itself is owned by the Peak District National Park Authority and is based at the Moorland Visitor Information centre.

The site is spread across six fields including a dedicated family field and a riverside field for backpackers only. Open all year round, this idyllic site is perfect for walkers looking to tackle the Pennine Way.

Bryher Campsite

Bryher Campsite is nestled in a valley on the beautiful isle of Bryher in the Isles of Scilly.

Beware Bryher is not for glampers! The website carries a warning to “don’t expect confined, manicured pitches and swimming pools – this site is for the true camper looking for a traditional outdoor experience”.

The site is open from April to September and surfboards
