If you serious about campfire cooking the Lodge Camp Dutch Oven is the Rolls Royce of outdoor culinary.
A Dutch oven is a thick-walled iron cooking pot with a tight-fitting lid, known as a camp oven in Australia, a cocotte in France and casserole dish in the UK.
The modern Dutch Oven has a smooth base for use on a stove or oven whereas a camp oven has three legs, a wire handle and a concave lid so hot coals can be placed on top as well as below. With coals surrounding the pot the Dutch Oven can be used as a traditional oven to cook cakes, pizzas and pies. They can also be stacked in case you were planning a real gourmet feast!
The Lodge Camp comes pre-seasoned so you can place it straight in the fire and start cooking. See our Dutch Oven Chicken and Dumplings recipie for an idea of what you can achieve. For further inspiration see 101 Things to Do with a Dutch Oven.
