Chris visited Henrys campsite in Lizard, Cornwall. Henry’s has spectacular sea views on a level, secluded site with shrubs, tropical & Mediterranean plants. Sounds blissful!

Off season on the Lizard.

Henry’s is marked on the OS map as a simple tent next to a pub and public convenience in Lizard so I knew that the basics were covered even if there turned out to be nothing else there. Upon arrival, it quickly becomes clear that this is a rather special place to be. No clubs, bars, kebab shops or H&M’s. Perfect.

Walking the coastal path

My reason for visiting Henry’s was to walk some of the coastal path, discover some local history and potentially try out my new lightweight jacket. The sun was beating down but a cold wind proved my choice of jacket to be ideal. The path from Lizard to Mullion appears well trodden and has a good mix of high cliffs, some light climbing, scrambling and the occasional beach adventure. Kynance Cove was a particular highlight with waves crashing in and a spectacular natural viewing platform on the cliff.

Winding down

Returning via an inland route past tumuli and ancient sites offered the opportunity to drink some cider whilst out of the wind and the promise a pub dinner of freshly caught fish. Back at Henry’s, you may find it difficult not to befriend the neighbours and head out to a nearby cove to watch the sun set.
